Screw Retained False Teeth

Screw Retained False Teeth – Fixed Dental Dentures

Find the Perfect Solution with Screw Retained False Teeth

Are you going through the painful and embarrassing situation where you have lost all your teeth or most of your teeth? Screw retained false teeth or fixed dental dentures can be the ideal solution and an esthetic choice offering stability besides looking great as it changes the entire facial features of the patient. Being an innovative option, implant-supported dentures are comfortable as they are anchored in a stable manner providing a suitable fit where the teeth do not move around while eating. As edentulous patients or people whose teeth have fallen out due to various reasons would go through an awkward situation that can be damaging both emotionally and physically, osseointegrated implant-supported denture prostheses provides a versatile answer.

As there is more bone in the front of the mouth, the implants can be placed easily. With time as a major factor, it takes seven months of treatment for the upper jaw and five months for the lower jaw which includes surgeries and in some cases bone grafting. The first surgery involves placement of the implants in the jawbone under the gums and the second surgery which is usually after 3-6 months after the first surgery discloses the top of the implants. With technology on a fast-paced mode, the latest procedure involves placing the implants and the supporting bar in one sitting. The prosthodontist would recommend X-rays, a review of the medical histories and a computed tomography or CT scan of the mouth.

Innovation at its best

There are two types of implant supported dentures known as the bar-retained dentures and ball-retained dentures. The bar-retained dentures involve 3-4 surgically placed implants in the gums. The implants are attached to a metal bar that is placed above the gums with the denture resting on it being attached with clips or screws but does not have the ball-retained denture principle that uses steel studs.

Known also as stud-attachment dentures, ball retained dentures have a design similar to a ball and socket that help the dentures to be attached to the implants that are surgically placed in the gums. Usually the denture has sockets fitted to it and the implants have a ball on top. Resembling a stud attachment, the ball-retained denture fits into the attachment on the denture. The ball-shaped attachments are known as the ‘male’ attachments and the sockets are known as the ‘female’ attachments. Some of the prosthodontists fit the screw retained false teeth or fixed dental dentures with the implants holding the female attachment and the denture holding the male attachment. Care should be taken to maintain oral hygiene with regular visits to the dentist to check if the screw retained false teeth or fixed dental dentures are stable.
